Travel | George Town

Canon 50D, 50 mm, f/1.8 @ 1/100, ISO 1000

On the way back from Thailand, we stopped for the night in George Town. It was fantastic to walk through the old Chinese district (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) once again. We were pleased that life has finally returned to the narrow, atmospheric streets. There were food stalls, opened stuffy old shops and artisans studios.

What made us most happy, however, was information about the festivities planned for the evening. Chinese residents of George Town put tables in front their houses, which were overflowing with gifts (whole roasted pigs and rarities from the deli), altars, incense. Chinese could not miss the fireworks and finally we saw the famous dancing dragons!

All pictures taken with Canon 50D with the cheap Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens at ISO 1000.
